Women who ate more fiber from vegetables and fruits a day when they were young may reduce by 24% the risk of breast cancer compared to people who consumed less.

Scientists believe that fiber may prevent the absorption of estrogen, which protects the body against cancer. Eating habits established during puberty and adulthood strongly affects the body’s hormones, and it is extremely important period for each person.

Teenagers consume 28g of fiber a day at most, the equivalent of two apples, a portion of broccoli, a banana, peas and two slices of bread. If you eat more 10g of fiber daily, for example, two apples, or apples and 1-2 slices of bread can be reduced by 13% risk of breast cancer.

Breast cancer is a highly prevalent disease in the UK, with over 12% of infected women and about 50,000 new patients each year. “The diet from a young age is an important factor causing the risk of cancer in the future,” said Dr. Walter Willett, professor of epidemiology and nutrition.

Recently, the research of Harvard University and the University of East Anglia has shown that eating fruits and vegetables rich in flavonoids such as strawberries, blueberries, apples, pears, , and beets … may be useful for weight loss.
